Dental Care Protocols

Our protocols reflect our commitment to quality treatment, patient well-being, and consistent clinical excellence.

Dental Examination & Diagnostic Protocol

  • A comprehensive examination package must be selected prior to the commencement of any dental treatment. This ensures proper diagnosis, treatment planning, and patient safety.
  • Diagnostic X-rays are mandatory for all restorative and surgical procedures, including but not limited to:
    • Fillings
    • Extractions
    • Root canal treatments
    • Crowns
    • Veneers
    • Other restorative or prosthetic procedures where tooth structure or root integrity must be assessed
  • For patients presenting with signs of gum disease (periodontal disease), a complete examination package is required before any treatment begins, including periodontal charting and full diagnostic imaging where necessary.
  • For tooth replacement options (such as bridges, partial dentures, implants, or fixed prosthetics), X-rays of all remaining supporting teeth and surrounding bone structures are required to assess suitability and long-term stability.
  • A complete and accurate treatment estimate can only be provided after all required diagnostic X-rays and clinical examinations have been completed. This ensures transparency and prevents unforeseen treatment changes.
  • Examination findings and X-ray records remain valid for a period of one (1) year, after which a reassessment may be required before further treatment can proceed.

Cleaning & Gum Health Protocol

  • The appropriate cleaning package will be determined by the dental professional following a clinical assessment of your oral health. This ensures that the treatment provided is suited to your individual needs and condition.
  • A periodontal assessment tool will be used to evaluate the health of your gums. This helps the dental professional accurately determine the presence and severity of any gum inflammation or infection, and to recommend the most appropriate treatment plan.
  • Tartar (calculus) removal is recommended every 4 to 6 months, depending on the patient’s individual risk factors, including gum health status, oral hygiene practices, and rate of plaque and tartar buildup.
  • Patients with higher risk of gum disease or rapid tartar accumulation may require more frequent professional cleanings as advised by the dental professional to maintain optimal oral health.

Additional Clinical Protocols

  • Patients may be required to undergo medical history screening and updates prior to treatment to identify any conditions that may affect dental care (e.g., diabetes, hypertension, allergies, anticoagulant use).
  • Any change in medical condition or medication must be disclosed before each treatment session to ensure patient safety.
  • In cases where infection, inflammation, or pain is present, the dentist may prioritize emergency or stabilisation treatment before elective procedures.
  • Patients must attend a consultation review appointment if treatment plans extend beyond one year, to ensure that oral conditions have not changed.
  • All treatment plans are subject to clinical reassessment during the course of care, and adjustments may be made based on healing response or diagnostic findings.
  • Missed or delayed diagnostic steps (such as X-rays or exams) may result in rescheduling of treatment appointments to maintain clinical standards.
